Raksha Bandhan festival is one of the famous festivals of India which is celebrated to exhibit the bond and relation between a brother and sister. This time in 2019 we would be celebrating raksha bandhan on 15th of August . In this post you would see what is done on raksha bandhan and how it is celebrated.

Rakhsa bandhan is celebrated by all Indians living in different countries and within different states in India. People living in countries like U.S , U.K and Australia where the ratio of Indians is increasing every year also witnesses Raksha Bandhan.

Rakhsa Bandhan is a festival to celebrate the bond  between a brother and a sister. Usually humans don't really express their feelings to their loved ones every day so like other occasions like friendship day and other this raksha bandhan is to strengthen and celbrate the lovely bond between a brother and sister.

Usually according to the rituals raksha bandhan is celebrated in the mornings according to the Hindu calender but it's not necessary to celebrate it at that time only. It can be celebrated according to our convenience.

Firstly all family members get together, all dressed up well. A pooja thali with a rakhi, diya(lamp), sweets is brought to greet the brother. Sister revolves the thali with diya in front of her brother's face. A tika is put on the forehead of brother by the sister and then rakhi is tied to brother's wrist. In turn brother gives a gift to sister and then both feed each other by sweets and wishing each happy raksha bandhan.

Also the sister wishes for the well being of the brother ad brother takes a vow of protecting his sister from difficulty in her life.
